The new department official will report to Secretary Yellen directly to support a net-zero emissions economy.
Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen appointed Ethan Zindler as the Treasury Department’s new Climate Counselor. In this role, Zindler will lead the Treasury Climate Hub, a group tasked with planning financial policies to address climate change and report the activities of this group directly to Secretary Yellen. Zindler will also advise the secretary on climate policy throughout his tenure.
“Ethan will bring analytical rigor and decades of experience in the climate space to this role and to the Treasury Department, and he will build on the Climate Hub’s strong track record of results,” said Secretary Yellen. “I believe it is imperative that we continue to take decisive action to fight climate change, for the sake of our planet and for the benefit of the global economy.”
