Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. – Romans 12:2
On this day in 1943, during the Second World War, U.S. forces attempted a risky air raid on Axis power’s oil refineries in Ploiești, Romania. Known as Operation Tidal Wave, the raid was unique in that it took place at an exceptionally low altitude in order to elude the Germans’ radar. The resulting attack proved to be chaotic and costly, with little reward. While forty percent of Ploiești’s capacity was reduced, the damage was repaired in a matter of months. The attack set the record for the most Medals of Honor awarded to airmen in a single mission. The Allied Forces did not attempt another low-altitude assault against the Germans. As you pray today, ask God to guide those in positions of authority to make wise decisions. Pray as well for the Lord to lead you in the ways that will bring Him the most glory and honor throughout your day.
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and the Joint Chiefs of Staff to be led by God in overseeing the U.S. military.
- For members of the Senate as they hold confirmation hearings for Defense Department nominees.
