So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours. – 1 Corinthians 3:21
What did Paul mean when he wrote, “Do not boast in people; all things are yours“? Paul was addressing the Corinthians’ bragging about following a particular leader. He reminded them that Christian leaders were all servants of Christ, there to help all believers. They are simply fellow servants serving Christ by ministering to His followers. Paul redirected their attention to Jesus.
In Christ, the Father has given many promises. As a believer, you receive love, forgiveness, and acceptance. You are part of the family of God. You can find great support and strength in a local congregation. You have the comfort and guidance of the Holy Spirit. You have access to God’s throne to get your needs met and prayers answered. Though Christ’s followers face physical death, their souls will live forever. In Jesus, all that you need is yours.
In the Christian world today, believers may be tempted to say they follow this famous pastor, preacher, or teacher, or boast about being a member of a certain denomination. Those who lead congregations are simply serving the Lord. There is no spiritual hierarchy. Belonging to and serving Christ is the first priority. When it comes to the local church, each person must follow the Lord’s leading as to where they fit best in serving Him. God’s family is in Christ alone.
Pray that today’s church would look to Jesus above all. Intercede for the church in the U.S. and around the world to grow in Christ—in faith, character, and service to Him. Pray for the unity of the Church to grow as believers watch for His appearing.

14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
