“Ah, stubborn children,” declares the Lord, “who carry out a plan, but not mine, and who make an alliance, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin.” – Isaiah 30:1
Stubbornness often leads to correction. Disobedience will rarely garner the results you hoped to obtain. Yet humanity has the uncanny knack for justifying stubbornness and reasoning for avoiding or refusing what God asks us to do. Multiple excuses may present themselves — it is too difficult, it will take too much time, it makes me uncomfortable, and so on. Sometimes you may unconsciously believe that you know what you need better than God does, or perhaps that He’s so big that He doesn’t notice what you feel is a huge issue in your life. The Lord is clear, however, about His ways not being human ways, and He directs you to bring everything to Him in prayer. In today’s verse, God says that those who resist Him are trying to carry out a plan that is not His. Ask the Lord today to show you anywhere you have not included Him in your plans. He longs for you to follow Him and include Him in everything – your hopes, plans, and dreams.
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For members of Congress to seek the Lord as they craft and deliberate over legislation.
- For judges in the federal judiciary to be led by God in their rulings.
