July 20th – Thursday

I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. – Philippians 1:6

When you accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord, a work began in your soul and spirit. God’s transformation process is never completed in this earthly life, but today’s verse provides the assurance and encouragement that the Lord will continue to work in you until Jesus returns. Your relationship with God by the Holy Spirit is the means by which He shapes and forms you into the likeness of Christ. As you live your life for the Lord, you come to reflect His character and attitude. As you experience the freedom from the sins that used to hold you captive, you become His message bearer, just as Jesus’ twelve disciples were, carrying out His work. While salvation comes through faith in Christ and not through works, what you do externally is a witness of your love and devotion to the Lord, then others can see Him through you. Pray today that Jesus will shine through you, as you share with others what God has done for you and in you.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For people of faith who hold public office to submit their ways to the Lord and be His witnesses.
  • For the president and his Cabinet to have eyes to see and ears to hear the truth of God’s word.
