In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence, and His children will have a refuge. – Proverbs 14:26
There are generally two types of fear. One is the emotion of being frightened or scared. The other is a sense of overwhelming awe, respect, or reverence. The revelation of God’s holiness and righteousness has the power to produce either type of fear. As today’s verse indicates, those who are children of God have the assurance and belief that He will protect them. Parents often inspire one or the other of these types of fear. Children may be afraid and avoid interacting with their parents when they have not experienced safety in their presence. But children who have a secure relationship with their father or mother feel respect and even awe at their parents’ love for them. Despite your failures, your heavenly Father is there to pick you up, dust you off, and walk beside you on your journey through this life. Remembering the ways He has come through for you builds trust, confidence, and reverence that creates a shelter from the storms of this life.
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For members of Congress to seek the Lord for the solutions to the problems they desire to resolve.
- For American parents who do not have one to develop a relationship with the Savior so their children come to know the Lord as their strong tower.
