Do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. – Hebrews 10:35
The sixth President of the United States, John Quincy Adams, was born on this day 256 years ago. Son of the second U.S. President, John Adams, and his wife Abigail, John Quincy Adams grew up following his father on diplomatic missions when he was just 14 years old. John Quincy Adams served in several different governmental roles, including as a diplomat, Senator, and Secretary of State, before following in his father’s footsteps as President of the United States. After his term as president, he remained an active participant in government, becoming a member of the House of Representatives. As you pray today, ask God to raise up leaders who will follow Him, and seek His guidance to lead the country well. Ask the Lord to give you a receptive heart to follow in His steps and ways, so that those around you are drawn to Him by your reflection of His character.
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For citizens and governing officials who are parents to model godly principles to their children.
- That the Lord accomplishes His will and purpose in the United States.
