Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. – Ephesians 5:1
An article was published in September 2017 that said, “The more Evangelical Christianity attempts to directly influence the culture surrounding it, the more people respond by running away.” Recent polling conflicts with itself. Some polls suggest that faith is in decline, while other polls suggest that Christianity continues to grow, specifically evangelical Christianity.
For those who are being turned off by Christians or the church, could it be because they are not seeing the Jesus of the Bible being displayed? Today’s verse says to be imitators of God “as beloved children.” You have seen little children try to walk around in the shoes of a parent. It’s often comical, but they are imitating what they have seen. God has revealed Himself to you, and especially through Jesus. You could never fit into His sandals, but you can display His characteristics, with love and integrity.
Jesus showed compassion to others, He displayed forgiveness, He spoke the truth in love, and He kept His confidence in the Father. Assess how well you resemble Him and ask the Holy Spirit to help you where you need to improve. Pray that believers serving in Congress will imitate Christ so well that others will be drawn to the Savior by observing their lives.
Today’s Verse: Ephesians 5:1
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.

As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
14 For he knows our frame;
he remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like grass;
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.
17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him,
and his righteousness to children’s children,
