Over 1,000 people have been arrested in relation to the January 6, 2021, Capitol incursion.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia announced that they have arrested a New Hampshire man for throwing a water bottle at Capitol Police and stealing an officer’s helmet on January 6, 2021.
Zachary Ackerman wore the helmet throughout the events that occurred at the Capitol, referring to it as his “war trophy” before taking it back to his home in New Hampshire. The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) reclaimed the helmet from his home in June 2022, finding a sticker placed on the helmet that featured a black flag with the words “New England 131” centered on it. This refers to the National Socialist Club 131, one of the many neo-Nazi groups and “White Defense Forces” active throughout the United States.
Ackerman has been charged with assault, resisting officers, civil disorder, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, and theft of government property. More than 1,000 people thus far have been arrested for their involvement in the 2021 Capitol riot.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Attorney General Merrick Garland to seek God’s guidance as he heads the Justice Department.
- For Director Christopher Wray as he leads the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
- For discernment for the U.S. attorneys in the District of Columbia as they prosecute the political demonstrators.
