Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold I am doing a new thing. – Isaiah 43:18-19
Congress adopted the Great Seal of the United States 240 years ago today, after six years of discussions. Originally designed by Secretary of the Continental Congress Charles Thomson, it contains great symbolism in each element on both sides of the seal, with themes of perseverance, justice, and strength. The main side features a bald eagle holding an olive branch in one talon and arrows in the other. The seal is largely used to authenticate certain federally-issued documents. Both sides have also been featured on the one-dollar bill since 1935. May this symbol be a reminder to you today and in the future as you pause and pray that God would grant the U.S. continued perseverance, justice, and strength. Remember that the living God has sealed you into His salvation and filled you with His Spirit when you accepted the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For believers who are serving in various levels of the U.S. government to be living testimonies of God’s truth, love, and goodness.
- For the president and his administration as they engage foreign officials and enter into agreements.
