Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way. – Proverbs 19:2
Congress passed the Communications Act of 1934, on this day 89 years ago. The passage of this law created the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) which was given the mandate to regulate “interstate and foreign commerce in communication by wire and radio so as to make available, so far as possible to all the people of the United States a rapid, efficient, Nation-wide, and world-wide wire and radio communication service.” Today, the FCC has expanded its oversight to TV and the internet as well. The regulations that are enforced by the agency ensure that rogue broadcasters do not interfere with signals that are used for emergency services, or that are the exclusive use of private corporations. As you lift the FCC officials in prayer today, thank God that He gave us such easy access to communicate with Him. Praise Him for the value He has placed on communicating with us through His Word and the constant presence of His Spirit!
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For Chair Jessica Rosenworcel as she heads the Federal Communications Commission.
- For members of the FCC as they review and evaluate current communications and propose solutions to challenges in the industry.
