Today, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona is heading the delegation designated by President Joe Biden to attend the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, Germany.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated, “7,000 athletes and Unified Partners and 3,000 coaches and supervisors will represent 190 delegations in 26 sports at these Games.“
Chairman of the Special Olympics, Timothy Shriver, stated, “The Special Olympics movement is driven by an urgent mission: to end discrimination against people with intellectual disabilities and create a fully inclusive world for all.“
