Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. – Romans 12:1
During a speech at Harvard University on this date in 1947, U.S. Secretary of State George Marshall introduced his plan to help redevelop European nations that had been ravaged by WWII. The European Recovery Program, known today as the Marshall Plan, resulted in the United States sending $13.3 billion (worth $173 billion in today’s dollars) to help promote European prosperity and prevent the spread of communism. As you pray for the nation and those in positions of authority today, consider the ways you might lend assistance to those who are less fortunate. Bear in mind that lending aid does not necessarily have to be financial. Sometimes a listening ear or a warm hug is what someone needs most. Ask the Lord to lead you in showing His loving care to others today.
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For Secretary of State Antony Blinken as he considers the needs of other nations and the ability of the U.S. to provide support.
- For Administrator Samantha Power as she oversees the U.S. Agency for International Development.
