Unchanging

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.  Hebrews 13:8

A kaleidoscope is an optical enjoyment, a toy built with two or more mirrors set at angles to each other inside a tube filled with bits of glass or stone.  There is generally a small hole for viewing at one end, while the other end is clear or colored, permitting light to enter. As the kaleidoscope is rotated, fascinating images of ever-changing geometrics appear. Scientists say when you look through the kaleidoscope, you engage both sides of your brain, which enhances your creativity and raises your spirits at the same time it reduces stress and helps you to relax.  The curious thing about the kaleidoscope is that once you have passed an image, even by counter-rotating it, you cannot get it back. There is no sameness.

It is different, yet interestingly the same with Jesus. Different because, as today’s verse says, he remains the same forever. Who He has been, He is and will continue to be—His character never alters, He is consistently faithful, He is ever present with those who believe. But, just as kaleidoscopic images change from beauty to beauty, so does Jesus. The more time you spend with Him, the many more facets you see. Time spent with Jesus will stir your creativity, and it will relieve your stress. Yet, it is not He who changes, but you and your perspective.

What has Jesus revealed of Himself to you lately that you hadn’t seen before? As you spend time in His words as relayed to you in the Gospels, you will discover new beauty as well as more and clearer understanding. Pray that members of government who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ will find the time each day to discover new and exciting things about the One whom they serve.

25 At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; 26 yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. 27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
