Additional National Prayer Needs
Pray for our Military
Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall told the Senate Armed Services committee that the Air Force is looking at ways they can have better control over access to classified information and better enforcement of rules that govern access to classified information on a “need to know” basis. He said, “Just because you happen to have a certain level of clearance doesn’t mean you get access to all the material at that level.”
Pray for military officials as they assess the security of American military information, and that no serious damage has been done by recent classified data leaks.
PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE
Turkey and the United Nations brokered a deal for a two-month extension of an agreement giving Ukraine the right to ship grain through ports on the Black Sea to parts of the world struggling with hunger. “Ukrainian and Russian products feed the world,” U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres said. “They matter because we are still in the throes of a record-breaking cost-of-living crisis.”
Pray that Ukrainian grain shipments will be able to depart the Black Sea ports and transit without interference to those suffering from hunger.
Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS
The U.S. State Department issued a warning to North Korea saying it will use “a number of tools” to hold that nation “accountable” should it go ahead with the illicit launch of a satellite. Such a launch would allegedly use long-range missile technology which is banned by the United Nations.
Pray for U.S. and UN officials as they seek to deter the actions of North Korea.
Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Sixteen members of Congress have drafted a bill that would urge the withdrawal of the U.S. from the World Health Organization. This is in response to the WHO meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, where a more powerful global program is being considered as part of “pandemic preparedness” that could jeopardize U.S. sovereignty.
Pray for members of Congress as they debate whether membership in the World Health Organization is beneficial for the U.S. commensurate with what it costs.
Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL
Secretary of Defense Austin, Joint Chiefs Chairman Milley, and CENTCOM Commander Kurilla have offered U.S. help to Israel in joint military planning regarding Iran, in a proposal that would “significantly upgrade U.S.-Israeli military cooperation,” but excluding “planning any kind of joint U.S.-Israeli strike against Iran’s nuclear program.”
Give thanks for the strengthening of the U.S.-Israeli relationship militarily.
Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY
The sales of existing homes slowed last month, down 23.2 percent from the year before. This reflects the efforts by the Federal Reserve to lower inflation by raising interest rates which have impacted mortgage interest rates and put the purchase of a home out of reach for many Americans. New housing starts also decreased 22.3 percent from last year, for similar reasons.
Pray for U.S. economic officials as they assess the housing sector and the effect rising interest rates have upon it.
Pray for Goodness in America
A study by the nonprofit Religious Freedom & Business Foundation shows that, among the Fortune 500 companies, Intel Corp. is the “most faith-friendly.” After Intel, American Airlines was second and Equinix was third. PayPal and Salesforce tied for fourth, followed respectively by Dell Technologies, AIG, and Tyson Foods. Rounding out the top 10, Google and Texas Instruments tied for ninth.
Give thanks for companies where employees are at liberty to express their religious beliefs without facing harassment or discrimination.
Pray for Needs Across the States
By order of a federal judge, New Hampshire has one year to stop the involuntary holding of psychiatric patients in emergency rooms. The judge said the state can only hold people in emergency rooms for up to six hours before transferring them to a mental health facility.
Governor Mark Gordon of Wyoming and the state’s Office of Homeland Security have issued flood warnings and begun preparedness activities ahead of the melting of a deeper-than-usual winter snowpack that poses a higher risk of flooding as temperatures rise.
Pray for wisdom for state officials across the country, all of whom are dealing with issues specific to their states or regions.
Pray for America’s Faith Community
“My prayer is that this class, the Class of ’23, will be known as the class that stood for truth in a world overflowing with wickedness, deception, and lies. I love our country, but it’s in a downward spiral morally, spiritually, economically, politically. We’re in a freefall. Why is that? Because we’ve turned our back on God and His truth. We are to be that beacon of light, that city on a hill, standing for the Word of God and His truth in a culture of confusion and lies. The Word of God is absolute truth. Truth is not what you say it is; truth is what God says it is.“ – Rev. Franklin Graham, Commencement Address, Liberty University, May 12, 2023
