New standards are being established to make home appliances “climate-friendly.”
U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm announced that household dishwashers will receive new efficiency standards as part of the effort by President Biden’s administration to reduce carbon pollution and address climate issues. The new standards will limit the use of water and consumption of energy.
The rule for dishwashers, which would cut water usage by 34 percent and power by 27 percent, is in the review process. For smaller models, the reductions are 11 percent for water and 22 percent for power.
Secretary Granholm stated this measure would save $168 million per year.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for U.S. energy officials as they evaluate the cost offsets of updating energy standards.
- For Secretary Granholm to seek God’s direction as she heads the Department of Energy.
