Website hack knocks courts and emergency services offline.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been working with the city of Dallas, Texas after a large-scale hack knocked court websites and multiple emergency services offline. A ransomware operation likely tied to the Conti gang of cybercriminals closed websites for the city’s courts, police, and fire service for two full days. Dallas’ computer-aided dispatch system was also affected.
“The FBI is aware of the incident and coordinating with the city of Dallas. As this is ongoing, we do not have any additional information to provide at this time,” the U.S. law enforcement agency stated.
Dallas Chief Information Officer Bill Zielenski declined to discuss how the attack occurred, remedies that are being made, or communications with the attackers. He said, “Doing so risks impeding investigations or exposing critical information.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For FBI officials as they work with Dallas officers and agents to track down the attackers.
- For U.S. cyber professionals as they work to restore the Dallas area network and cyber infrastructure.
- For first responders who have had to help the community without the usual access to information and data.
