How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! – Psalm 133:1
For the follower of Christ, unity is more than mere agreement. It is the core ingredient to God’s identity as a triune existence. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, by nature, live in perfect harmony. However, for His Church, there is often disunity and disagreement. How can a diverse group of people ever be in one accord?
Christian unity is found in the presence of, and submission, to God’s Spirit. The apostle Paul, in his letter to the Ephesians, urges followers to “walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love” (Ephesians 4:1-2). Paul is not pressing for conformity to religious rules. Rather, he is entreating believers to allow God’s Spirit to mold them into the likeness of His triune self.
Unity in faith provides the structure for God’s Kingdom to exist on Earth. When displaying the attributes of God, diverse people find the freedom to express their unique talents, “building up the body of Christ until all attain knowledge of the Son of God “ (Ephesians 4:12-13). When God’s people live in His likeness, harmony happens!
Pray for believers in America’s churches to model unity through spiritual maturity in Christ. Ask that followers of Jesus who hold leadership positions in America will express their maturity through tangible integrity in their work, pointing others to Christ.

21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. 24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. 26 I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
