But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. – Philippians 3:20
Your Citizenship Now
If you are born in the USA or have been naturalized, you are a citizen of this blessed land. There are laws you are expected to follow, privileges you have been granted, and the expectations that you will live in peace with those around you. But, if you are professing Christian, you are also a citizen of Heaven… not only at some future time but right NOW. As such, you are expected to conduct yourselves according to God’s laws, to enjoy and be thankful for the blessings He gives you each day, and to follow the commands of Jesus to love God and your neighbor. Then, as today’s verse says, you should be looking for Jesus’ return. A social media post said, “I’m no longer looking for the signs of the times, I’m listening for the trumpet of God.” Live as a good citizen and keep your eyes looking up!
