Department of Energy is continuing research for the territory’s renewable energy goals.
Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm wrapped up her most recent visit to Puerto Rico, where she met with community members to touch base with their clean energy goals. The territory used funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to launch its PR100 initiative, which aims to convert Puerto Rico’s energy grid to 100% renewable energy by 2050. Island leaders are beginning their project with the PR100 study, which is researching the unique challenges that will inform their efforts moving forward.
“The visit marked the Secretary’s fourth visit to Puerto Rico, the second scheduled for 2023, and continued the PR100 Community Engagement Tour – a series of townhall-style events coordinated with the Hispanic Federation where residents and community members can speak directly with the Secretary about their comments and suggestions for the PR100 study,” the department’s press release said.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That Secretary Granholm’s input helps drive the PR100 study forward with more efficiency.
- For the Department of Energy as they support the energy goals of U.S. states and territories.
- For administration officials as they emphasize independence as much as they emphasize collaboration.
