Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. – Hebrews 10:25
Why did the apostle Paul encourage believers to meet together? There is strength in numbers. King Solomon stated, “A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken“ (Ecclesiastes 4:12, NLT). The recent pandemic taught that even meeting together virtually is better than isolation. Have you ever been through adversity and had someone encourage you at your most desperate hour? Perhaps you have experienced a financial setback and somebody provided what you needed at just the right time. Jesus said that He would be in the midst of even two or three who gathered in His name (Matthew 18:20). The connections you have in the body of Christ reflect God’s love to the world and encourage good deeds in His name (Hebrews 10:24).
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- That followers of Jesus serving in public office consistently gather with other believers for support and encouragement.
- For the president and his Cabinet secretaries to be influenced by those who have given their lives to the Lord.
