Secretary highlights the IRS, anti-Russia efforts, and recent bank saves as part of her budget proposal.
Secretary Janet Yellen testified before the House Committee of Financial Services and General Government Appropriations, offering her proposal for the Department of the Treasury’s 2024 budget.
A large portion of Yellen’s opening statement focused on her department’s handling of two large bank closures in the last month, showing how their actions protected the liquid money of individual bank depositors along with the overall health of the U.S. economy. She then highlighted three main investments her proposed 2024 budget accounts for; discretionary funding for the Internal Revenue Service, expansion funding for the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, and continued funding for policy research and implementation.
“Two years into this Administration, Treasury continues to serve at the forefront of our nation’s response to some of its most urgent challenges,” Secretary Yellen said in her opening statement. “We have advanced our country’s domestic and international economic priorities – thanks to the resources that you have provided us.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Yellen as she works with Congress on the 2024 budget.
- For the Department of the Treasury as they handle some of the most important tasks of the administration.
- That the Lord offers Secretary Yellen divine strength as she works to handle historic financial challenges.
