The president reiterates that democratic values are at the center of the U.S.-Israel relationship.
A temporary pause in a controversial effort at overhauling Israel’s judicial system has reportedly been made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Thousands protested in the streets of Tel Aviv overnight after the announcement was made. Departing flights have been halted out of Ben Gurion airport, the primary international airport that services Israel.
According to White House spokesman John Kirby, the Biden administration has been concerned about what is happening. “We are deeply concerned by the ongoing developments in Israel, which further underscores the need for compromise,” he said. He said that President Biden had called Prime Minister Netanyahu last week. “As the President recently discussed with PM Netanyahu directly, democratic values have always been, and must remain, a hallmark of the U.S.-Israel relationship,” Kirby said.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and all of Israel.
- Pray for wisdom for President Biden and his national security council as they keep watch over the situation in Israel.
- For God to be at work through the U.S.-Isael relationship.
