Bipartisan group calls for tougher methods.
A resolution calling for an end to the theocratic regime in Iran has been offered by a bipartisan group in the House of Representatives. Representative Brad Sherman of California, one of the co-sponsors, said, “The people of Iran must rise up and demand their rights.”
The call for a tougher policy toward Iran grew from the death of a 22-year-old in September who was detained by the Iranian Morality Police because she was not following the strict dress code for women. During her incarceration, she suffered a heart attack, went into a coma, and was declared dead three days later. The resolution was also influenced by reports of the poisoning of several young schoolgirls.
The House bill is expected to pass and a similar resolution seems to hold certain passage in the Senate also.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For members of the House as they endeavor to support the people of Iran.
- For senators as they consider the resolution that encourages civil and human rights in Iran.
