Cultivate
As crocuses pop their little white and purple heads through the ice and snow, people begin to think of their Spring planting. Whether gardens of flowers or vegetables, preparations for a healthy crop are a prerequisite. Your heart is the soil in which your faith grows. That heart soil is replenished and nourished by time in God’s Word, and watered in times of prayer. Just as little shoots of tender plants need care, God says you are to “guard your heart with all diligence for out of it spring the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23). Take the time to cultivate your heart’s faith. As the remainder of today’s verse says, “Cleanse your hands… and purify your hearts,” then you will reap the reward of tender times with the Lord and healthy spiritual growth.
