You open your hand, you satisfy the desire of every living thing. – Psalm 145:16
The 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified on this date in 1951. This update to the constitution limited the number of times a U.S. President could be elected as chief executive to two terms. Prior to this amendment, only President Franklin D. Roosevelt served in the White House beyond the precedent set by George Washington. The amendment was created to prevent the country from the possible autocratic leadership of an individual holding the office beyond two four-year terms, providing U.S. voters the opportunity to elect new executive leadership. As you pray for the president and his administration today, ask that God would touch the hearts and minds of the leaders to seek Him as they make decisions for the country and that He would accomplish His purpose in this nation in the years to come.
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For wisdom for the president and his advisors as they implement foreign and domestic programs.
- For the president and vice president as they serve the second half of their term heading the executive branch.
