February 20th – Monday

He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that He does, He prospers. – Psalm 1:3

The United States established the U.S. Postal Service with President George Washington signing the Postal Service Act into law on this day in 1792. Prior to its official creation, a postal service known as the “United States Post Office Department” was created by the Constitutional Congress, who also appointed Benjamin Franklin as the postmaster. Today, the U.S. Postal Service is one of the largest employers in the nation, with over 630,000 workers, and delivers 48 percent of all mail worldwide. It is a significant part of American infrastructure, maintaining coverage to even the most distant address. Ask that God would provide safety on the roads for the nation’s postal workers and that He would give the leadership of the U.S. Postal Service wisdom as they continue to provide this service.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to seek God’s direction as he oversees the U.S. Postal Service.
  • For the judicial officer, the administrative law judges, and the contract appeals board as they serve in the USPS Judicial Officer Department.
