He is seeking “détente” over the spy balloon.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken will be attending the Munich Security Conference this weekend, during which he will have the opportunity to meet with the top diplomat of China, Wang Yi.
The State Department is anticipating discussions intended to deescalate tensions that have grown since the U.S. downing of a Chinese government spy balloon earlier this month.
Although the meeting has not been officially confirmed, the administration is hopeful it will take place as a failure to meet would only be another indicator of how badly the U.S.-China relationship has degraded.
Others at the meeting in Munich are Vice President Kamala Harris and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. Secretary Yellen had earlier been scheduled to travel to China for discussions on the global economy.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For U.S. officials as they participate in the security conference in Munich.
- For Secretary Blinken to seek the Lord as he plans to meet with the senior diplomat from China.
