Conduits of Grace

The Lord knows the days of the blameless… in the days of famine they have abundance.   Psalm 37:18-19

In these uncertain times, you may be tempted to worry. Today’s verse reassures believers that no matter what outside circumstances are, God will take care of them. As the song by Chris Tomlin says, “He’s a good, good Father.” God meets His children’s needs, but He often does that through His children.

The apostle Paul said to the church at Ephesus, “Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need” (Ephesians 4:28). James, showing that deeds work with faith, said, “If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?” (James 2:15-16).

The apostle Paul commended the Macedonians for giving to those in need and encouraged the Corinthians to do the same. Paul’s words testify that God provides for His people through His people: “Your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness” (2 Corinthians 8:14).

God takes care of His people. He provides each with gifts that will meet others’ needs. The apostle Peter says, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace” (1 Peter 4:10). Pray that believers will be ministers of God’s grace and love. Pray for citizens and elected officials to submit to the Lord.

Today’s Verse: Psalm 37:18-19

The Lord knows the days of the blameless,
    and their heritage will remain forever;
19 they are not put to shame in evil times;
    in the days of famine they have abundance.

7 The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. 8 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
