February 6th – Monday

Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. – Luke 6:38

On this date in 1778, the United States and France signed the Treaty of Alliance, a turning point in the American Revolutionary War. The treaty made Frace the first country to formally acknowledge the United States as an independent country in addition to pledging its military support in the ongoing conflict. With the support of French allies, the United States was able to overthrow British rule. The treaty remained in place until the early 1800s, at which time the United States took an isolationist approach, maintaining no foreign alliances until the Second World War. Today, the United States maintains many military alliances around the world with the goal of maintaining peace and prosperity. Ask that God would give diplomats in the State Department wisdom as they seek to strengthen relationships to accomplish these international efforts.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For discernment for Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the U.S. ambassadors he oversees as they pursue diplomatic agreements.
  • For the president and his foreign advisors to seek the Lord’s guidance as they negotiate agreements and partnerships.
