Her stance on Israel is cited as the reason for removal.
The House of Representatives voted to oust Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota from the Foreign Affairs Committee, citing her anti-Israel statements as anti-Semitic.
Representative Omar is one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress and the first to wear a hijab in the House chamber after rules were changed to allow head coverings to be worn for religious reasons.
Representative Mike McCaul of Texas, chairman of the committee, said, “Her worldview of Israel is so diametrically opposed to the committee’s. I don’t mind having differences of opinion, but this goes beyond that.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for Speaker McCarthy as the committee assignments are determined.
- For Congressman McCaul as he chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
- For Representative Omar as she represents her constituents from Minnesota.
