The results come after a six-month coordinated effort with Germany and the Netherlands.
The Justice Department recently announced the successful conclusion of their large-scale effort to disrupt the prolific Hive ransomware group. The group has extorted millions of dollars from 80 countries after targeting more than 1,500 hospitals, school districts, financial firms, and critical infrastructure. The FBI has been working to penetrate Hive’s computer networks since July 2022, partnering with German law enforcement and the Netherland’s Tech Crime Unit to finally take full control of Hive’s many servers and websites.
“Cybercrime is a constantly evolving threat. But as I have said before, the Justice Department will spare no resource to identify and bring to justice, anyone, anywhere, who targets the United States with a ransomware attack,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland. “We will continue to work both to prevent these attacks and to provide support to victims who have been targeted. And together with our international partners, we will continue to disrupt the criminal networks that deploy these attacks.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Attorney General Garland as he coordinates the many efforts of the Justice Department.
- That the conclusion of this infiltration process prevents future ransomware crimes.
- For the Department of Justice as they work with American allies to fight injustice around the world.
