The White House continues to narrow down the next appointee.
The White House is narrowing down potential nominees for the next head of the National Economic Council (NEC). The current council director, Brian Deese, communicated his intent to step down, so President Joe Biden will have to appoint a new person to take on the position.
At the moment, the most likely candidate is Lael Brainard, the current vice chair of the Federal Reserve. Other contenders include deputy Treasury secretary Wally Adeyemo, former secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Mathews Burwell, deputy NEC director Bharat Ramamurti, and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.
This position of leadership does not require Senate confirmation, so Biden’s chosen appointee will become the new NEC chair shortly after presidential selection.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the White House as they choose between many capable individuals.
- For the Lord to guide President Biden’s hand to choose the right person for this role.
- For administration officials as they work to fill positions of leadership in the federal government.
