The secretary conveyed executive sentiments at a White House press briefing.
Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm spoke at a White House press conference on Monday, where she shared that President Joe Biden will likely veto legislation to restrict Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) presidential withdrawals if it passes the House. Secretary Granholm sent a letter warning the House of the potential negative consequences of restricting withdrawals from the SPR without first passing a plan to increase oil and gas leasing on federal lands; undermining national security, accelerating crude oil shortages, and raising gas prices are just a few examples she gave.
Granholm communicated President Biden’s intentions to veto the passage of the bill in no uncertain terms. “He will not allow the American people to suffer,” Granholm said to reporters.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Granholm as she leads the Department of Energy and that God would grant her wisdom and authority.
- For the House of Representatives as they do their best to cast their vision for America’s future.
- For the president and administration officials as they work to come to an agreement with Congress on how best to care for the American people.
