Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your heart to God. – Colossians 3:16
At Home
Is the Word of God a guest in your life, or does Scripture abide within you in such a way that you are as familiar with it as you are with a spouse or a child? Today’s verse says Jesus’ words should dwell in you. That is, they should make their abode with you, comfortably, fully at home. The Lord’s words are powerful and comforting, challenging and assuring. Any need you have, at any moment, can be met within all that He has said. But you have to know His words. While you can turn to the Bible and search them out in times of distress, isn’t it so much better to just have them there, at the tip of your tongue, because you have taken the time to memorize them? If you don’t have a Scripture memory program, you might begin today. Start with Jesus’ words. Repeat them as you do a household chore, take a walk, or even do your shopping. As you do, you will seal them in your soul, and they will dwell in you.
