Whose acceptance are you seeking, God’s or humans’? Today’s verse refers to those who were afraid to follow Jesus during His earthly ministry for fear their religious leaders would reject them. The Message version renders this verse: “When push came to shove, they cared more for human approval than for God’s glory.“ There is much confusion in society today about who and what to be, who to cater to, who to side with, and who to serve. The U.S. Constitution states that the government was created by and for the people, and that those in office are public servants. The idea is a shadow of God creating His people, serving, and dying for them! Your identity comes from being a child of God and yearning for His approval alone. Pray today for all government leaders to turn to God, find identity in Him, and seek His approval in all they do.
