Incorporates research and technology into future policies and expenses
The Department of Transportation released the strategic plan for research, development, and technology for the fiscal years 2022-2026 last week. The plan is guided by two preliminary documents rolled out by the department in 2022, the overall strategic plan and innovation principles for incorporating new research and technology into transforming the U.S. transportation system.
“In this time of rapid change and experimentation, research must drive the learning necessary for the public sector to keep pace with technological advancement and to adapt to evolving socio-economic needs,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary Robert Hampshire, who oversees the research and technology efforts of the Transportation Department. “By providing a vision for a future transportation system made possible by research, we seek to foster collaborative innovation to create a better transportation future for all.”
