Old or New

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. Revelation 21:1

It is no accident the subjects and themes of the first book of the Bible, Genesis, beautifully reflect the last few chapters in the last book of the Bible, Revelation.  Although written 1500 years apart, God breathed His entire plan for Creation into writing so you could know it!

Genesis starts with God creating planet Earth, populated with people made in the image of God. Revelation ends in the ultimate demise of that Earth, poisoned by sin, and passing away as God said it would. However, in His characteristic process of death and renewal, God unveils a new Earth, one without sin and populated by the brothers and sisters of His firstborn Son, Jesus Christ.

In the old world, the sun and moon provided light. In the new, God’s glory is the light. In the old, a bride was formed for her husband Adam. In the new, a bride is prepared for marriage to the Savior. In the old, the Liar is present, deceiving and beguiling. In the new, Satan is banished and cast away. In the old, death returns all living things to dust. In the new, death is no more and life reigns. In the new world, humanity is restored to live and reign with Christ and God dwells with His people.

Believers have been born here on the old earth in the flesh and are born again, by God’s Spirit, to enter the new one through the blood of Christ. God gives every person the opportunity to choose. If you have not already, choose New Life! Pray that many in this nation, and the world, accept the gospel of God’s gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ.

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
