Today, President Joe Biden is welcoming Ecuador’s President Guillermo Lasso. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said ahead of the visit that the two presidents “plan to underscore the importance of strengthening democratic institutions and discuss regional economic integration initiatives, including the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity, economic and security cooperation, and Ecuador’s leadership on regional migration.”
The press secretary added that President Biden and President Lasso plan to look at issues even beyond the regions of the Americas. “The visit provides an opportunity for the presidents to consult on a range of regional and global issues, including Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified war in Ukraine,” she said.
