Look to Jesus

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature.   – Hebrews 1:3

Jesus taught about the Kingdom of God, not only by His parables and teachings but also by His example. If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus. Today’s verse says He is the “exact imprint of his nature.” He exhibited this by reaching out to the needy and performing miracles. The apostle John relayed that the Jewish leaders were upset with Jesus for making Himself equal with God. “This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God” (John 5:18).

In the next verse, Jesus emphasizes who He is. “So Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise‘” (John 5:19). Jesus replied to Philip in John 14:9, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father?’” God the Father Himself confirmed His claims in Matthew 3:17, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

The claims, the deeds, the miracles the supernatural confirmations all attest to the deity of Christ. Go to the Father in confidence through the Son, bringing Him your needs and the needs of the country. Pray for the citizens and government officials to turn to Jesus as the only way to salvation.

12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
