The highest combined bids exceed $757.1 million in lease sales.
The Department of the Interior announced the winners of the auction for five offshore wind leases near California. Five companies bid a combined $757.1 million for the 373,268 acres made available by the department, making this the third successful bidding for offshore wind leases in 2022. Now that the leases have been auctioned, the winning companies will now negotiate agreements with local communities, Tribes, and ocean users that may be affected by their offshore wind projects.
“Today’s lease sale is further proof that industry momentum – including for floating offshore wind development – is undeniable,” said Secretary Deb Haaland. “A sustainable, clean energy future is within our grasp, and the Interior Department is doing everything we can to ensure that American communities nationwide benefit.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Haaland as she oversees the auctioning of wind energy leases by the Interior Department.
- For Interior officials as they approve and support offshore wind projects and other alternate sources of energy.
- For the winners of the leases as they negotiate and build the offshore wind farms.
