Supreme Court refuses to block access to President Trump’s taxes.
The Ways and Means Committee of the House of Representatives received clearance for the 2015 to 2020 tax returns of former President Donald Trump this week. The Treasury Department confirmed that it has officially complied with the recent Supreme Court decision. The court ended the years-long legal battle, turning down the former president’s appeal and upholding the previous decision of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.
“Every President takes office knowing that he will be subject to the same laws as all other citizens upon leaving office,” Judge David Sentelle, an appointee of President Ronald Reagan, wrote in the opinion of the circuit court in August. “This is a feature of our democratic republic, not a bug.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for members of the Ways and Means Committee as they investigate the former president.
- For former President Trump and his legal advisors as they handle the inquiries into his tax returns.
