Tribes in 11 states receive high-speed internet grants.
The Department of Commerce has announced they have awarded 18 high-speed internet grants to Tribal entities in 11 states. These grants, worth $224 million, are distributed through the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program. With funding provided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, this grant program has thus far distributed $1.5 billion out of its allocated $3 billion to expand Tribal high-speed internet access and digital skills training.
“This Native American Heritage Month, our Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program is continuing its historic investment in Native communities to ensure reliable, affordable high-speed Internet for all,” said Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. “These grants – made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – highlight the Biden administration’s unprecedented commitment to close the digital divide in Native communities.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Raimondo as she oversees the awarding of grants to Tribal nations.
- For Commerce officials as they support Tribal communities through the internet program.
- For wisdom for Native American leaders as they implement the program funding.
