Also recently interdicted heroin shipment.
The U.S. Coast Guard vessel, Charles Moulthrope recently confiscated approximately $29 million in illegal narcotics in the Gulf of Oman. This happened weeks after the USCG cutter Glen Harris seized around $48 million in heroin in the same region. Operating as part of Combined Task Force 150, the Charles Moulthrope discovered 2,980 kilograms of opium and 400 kilograms of methamphetamines on a fishing ship.
“A success like this is a team effort. I am proud of each and every member of our crew,” stated Lt. Commander Stephen Hills, Charles Moulthrope’s commanding officer. “We remain committed to countering the flow of illegal contraband and promoting security and stability across the region.”
The U.S. Navy increased its presence in the 5th Fleet in the past year, which has led to more weapons and illicit drug raids.
