Deployment of the record system moved from January to June 2023.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced the launch of its electronic health record (EHR) will be delayed further. Secretary Denis McDonough had initially pushed back its deployment until January 2023. However, the VA found additional performance issues, such as latency and slowness, during testing and investigations. Officials now estimate that the EHR system will be ready by June 2023.
“Right now, the Oracle Cerner electronic health record system is not delivering for Veterans or VA health care providers – and we are holding Oracle Cerner and ourselves accountable to get this right,” said Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs Donald Remy, who has oversight over the department’s EHR program. “Veterans and clinicians deserve a seamless, modernized health record system, and we will not rest until they get it.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for Deputy Secretary Remy as he oversees the deployment of the EHR program.
- For discernment for VA officials involved in the testing and review of the electronic health records.
