And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. – John 1:14
The first chapter of John reveals the deity of Christ. “The Word was with God and the Word was God” (John 1:1). Then today’s verse states, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus. If you want to know if He cares about you, look at Jesus. If you want to know if God wants to heal you, look at Jesus. Throughout His ministry, Jesus heals, teaches, and disciples people. Jesus cares about humans.
Today, the United States memorializes lives lost in the September 11th terrorist attack in 2001. We know that God loves each soul and deeply cares for those who were lost and for those left behind.
While Jesus is not bodily here on Earth, His Holy Spirit is present and dwells in those who believe in the Savior. You may have heard it said that you are the only Jesus some will ever see. As you interact with people today, be sensitive to their needs. If you cannot directly assist, prayer always helps because it moves the hand of God. Pray for those who, 21 years later, still feel the effects of that tragic day in September.
Pray for protection for the United States, especially for the prevention of any future terrorist attack. Pray for first responders who regularly run into danger. Pray for the families that have lost loved ones through terrible circumstances. Pray for the people of this nation to turn to the Lord to bring peace and comfort to the nation.

12 We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, 13 and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. 14 And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. 15 See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophecies, 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil.
23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.
