The report regarding the May leak of the court’s draft opinion has not yet been submitted.
The Supreme Court experienced an unprecedented leak in May of the draft opinion in the abortion case that would overturn Roe v. Wade. At the 10th Circuit Bench and Bar Conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado, this week, Justice Neil Gorsuch spoke about the ongoing investigation that was ordered by Chief Justice John Roberts.
“The chief justice appointed an internal committee to oversee the investigation,” Justice Gorsuch stated.”That committee has been busy, and we’re looking forward to their report, I hope soon.”
Justice Gorsuch continued, “Improper efforts to influence judicial decision-making, from whatever side, are a threat [to the judicial process].” He added that interference of this type inhibits the communication and candor between the jurists. He added, “I very much hope we get to the bottom of this sooner or later.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the Supreme Court marshal in charge of the investigation into the leak.
- For wisdom for the investigative panel as they review the court’s internal communications and staff activity.
- For discernment for the justices of the Supreme Court as they select cases for the fall term.
