Boosters could roll out as soon as next week if approved
The Food and Drug Administration has issued emergency authorizations for the bivalent vaccines produced by Moderna and Pfizer. The Moderna booster is approved for people 18 years and older. The Pfizer shot is authorized for 12 years and up.
“The COVID-19 vaccines, including boosters, continue to save countless lives and prevent the most serious outcomes (hospitalization and death) of COVID-19,” FDA Commissioner Robert Califf stated. “As we head into fall and begin to spend more time indoors, we strongly encourage anyone who is eligible to consider receiving a booster dose with a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine to provide better protection against currently circulating variants.”
Some concerns have been raised by health professionals due to the accelerated approval despite incomplete human trials.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for Commissioner Califf as he oversees authorizations and approvals of therapeutics and interventions.
- For Director Walensky to seek the Lord’s leading as she heads the CDC.
- For Secretary Becerra as he implements the president’s health care policies.
