Domestic wind makes 32% of energy capacity growth in 2021.
The Department of Energy released three reports last week showing continued growth in the wind power sector. The Land-Based Wind Market Report found that wind projects built in 2021 generated enough energy to power 4 million additional homes. The Offshore Wind Market Report found that new offshore wind added 13 million houses worth of power to America’s grid, and the Distributed Wind Market Report found an increase in small wind turbines installed on houses and businesses.
“The rapid technological and industrial advances in the domestic wind sector are creating new jobs for the clean energy workforce and assuring wind power’s critical role in achieving President Biden’s climate and decarbonization goals,” said Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm.
