The Department of Health and Human Services announced on Thursday that 1.8 million doses of the monkeypox vaccine will be made available next week to accelerate the distribution to states and localities. White House Monkeypox Response Coordinator Bob Fenton called the administration’s approach that will boost local efforts to mitigate the virus “innovative.”
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has reported the seizure this week of over 250,000 rainbow-colored fentanyl pills that resembled candy or sidewalk chalk. The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Field intelligence manager for the Washington division, Jennifer Lofland, stated, “My biggest concern, and I think the biggest concern of DEA nationwide, is that the pills seem to be marketed specifically to a younger age group.”
